Basics of Wraparound | Skills for Facilitating Wraparound | Creating Community for Wraparound

Each county is required to develop a training plan to support their wraparound programs. These workshops-for-counties formally involved in adopting the wraparound process-can be scheduled through wraparound consultants at the California Department of Social Services Child Welfare Services Bureau. Please contact your state consultant for available training resources. State consultants must authorize all training for wraparound services.

Basics of Wraparound  top 
Two days

Understanding and implementing the principles and practice implications of wraparound is essential for its successful use with children with special needs and their families. The workshop covers key wraparound concepts and strategies.

Topics include
  • family-centered practice
  • strengths-based approach
  • needs driven services
  • practice shift at multiple levels
  • overcoming barriers to wraparound
  • strategies for implementing wraparound
Participants develop an understanding of the philosophy and practice of wraparound services.


Skills for Facilitating Wraparound  top 
Two days

The success of wraparound services for a child and family depends on the development of the wraparound plan. Mentored by professional trainers and coached by parent guides, the workshop allows cross-system teams to experience the process of wraparound planning.

  • individualized planning process
  • team process
  • successful wraparound facilitators
Participants develop skills to create individualized, strengths-based, needs-driven plans that reflect the inclusion of informal support and flexible funding.

Creating Community for Wraparound  top 
Full day

Creating community that supports wraparound is essential for its success. This session assists agency leaders through training and planning to address a variety of issues.

Topics include
  • comprehensive systems change
  • using visioning in creating systems reform
  • infrastructure development that supports practice reform
  • system support for family-centered, strengths-based services
Participants are able to conceptualize and plan for system support and changes needed to facilitate wraparound.
