Custom Training
Welcome to the Center for Human Services training and services catalog
The Center has been a steady partner of state and county agencies through many changes in policy and practice. Grounded in the public service tradition of the University of California, the Center brings to work with agencies a commitment to advancing knowledge and skills in organizational learning.
Meeting many needs
Training programs can involve participants from a single organization or, to foster and support collaboration, multiple organizations in a county or region. Training can serve many purposes, including
- implementing new practice models
- introducing new delivery systems
- developing a consistent body of knowledge and common values within and across organizations, programs and staff levels
Courses in this catalog can be delivered as described or adjusted to meet the needs of training participants and sponsoring agencies.
A faculty of experts
The Center's faculty includes more than 300 instructors with extensive experience in human services and training. Many are agency managers, supervisors, workers or trainers. The Center's faculty has earned wide respect for its combination of practical experience, subject matter expertise and skill in teaching adults.
Backed by the University of California
The Center's programs meet the standards of the University of California. This association with one of the best systems of higher education in the country is another assurance of quality.
Professional credit
Upon request, qualifying courses can be offered for continuing education credit through the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS), the California Board of Registered Nurses (BRN), the California Psychological Association (CPA) and the Standards of Training for Corrections (STC).
Fees
Training programs, workshops and institutes can be provided on a contract basis to states, local agencies or private nonprofit organizations. Procedures of the California Department of Social Services enable county welfare departments to contract with public educational institutions for training. Educational institutions may provide matching funds, resulting in training at no cost to the county.
